In a digital era, our main audience is drawn in through our website and social media accounts, making both vital to our success and reach as a news outlet. This year, I've worked alongside our social media and web editors to maximize our use of various platforms to ensure that it is as intriguing and engaging to readers as possible, making them want to return time and time again for more information and highlights of our school culture.
Weekly Rotation
The content on our social media should be able to stand alone, not solely serve as promotions for larger stories; thus, I worked alongside the social media editor to devise a rotational plan for consistent coverage that included smaller features for each day, such as Behind the Muse and Humans of Dreyfoos. Every team is responsible for the biweekly topic assigned to them, and I frequently collaborate with them to find the more intriguing angles and step in for assistance when needed.

Breaking News
As one of the main news outlets for our school, it is our responsibility to be constantly aware of any and all breaking news, ready to cover it as soon as something arises. Having a premade template and working with all types of staffers to prepare them for the rush of breaking news has helped us to facilitate communications between staffers the moment something hits so we are able to release information on it within the hour.
Photo Galleries
I've always been drawn to photography for its unparalleled ability to capture the raw emotion and action of an event, though too often are just a few photos sporadically incorporated throughout a story without telling a story of their own. Thus, this year I have tried to add photo galleries into a majority of my projects to add an extra layer of depth and complexity, challenging myself to become more efficient with caption writing and focus on each photo’s purpose in conveying a story visually.
